Stallone Is Back In The Oscar Hunt After 40 Years Of Mediocrity

So Sylvester Stallone is apparently back in the reckoning for an Oscar, and all thanks to ANOTHER boxing movie. Who’d have thought it eh? Stallone’s performance in Rocky saw him nominated for a Best Actor award at the 1977 Oscars, and it seems his latest offering Creed has put the action star back in the award limelight.

In Creed Stallone plays the trainer of Apollo Creed’s son, Adonis Johnson (Michael B. Jordan), in his bid to emulate his father’s boxing career.

Speaking to Variety about the rumours doing the rounds, producer Charles Winkler said:

“Just from the trailer, it seems to be the best work he’s ever done. He hits it out of the park, and if there’s a vote, I’ll be voting for him. The talk has happened without us having to boost it at all, and deservedly so. We know Sylvester Stallone as an action star, but we forget he started as a character actor.”

Not content to be the man in the limelight this time around, Stallone responded modestly to the rumours and insisted that director Ryan Coogler is the man who should be getting all the adulation.

“I think it’s because of what this young man and has done and how he directed it. He just put me in a good light.”

Imagine if Stallone won the Oscar, incredible scenes.
